NCAA FB>Nebraska Cornhuskers
Who knew that a 16-7 loss by the Huskers against Missouri on November 7th 1962 would have turned out to be such a landmark game. That was the first Memorial Stadium sellout in a string that has lasted over 40 years. When the 2009 Nebraska Cornhuskers take the field against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 26, 2009, they will celebrate their 300th consecutive sellout. To mark this date, AD Tom Osborne has announced that the 2009 Huskers will wear the same jerseys dawned by the 1962 squad. After the game, the full set of pants, jersey and helmet will be auctioned off with a minimum bid of $500. Numbers 1 thru 99 will be available and the team will suit up an extra 40 guys that day making an additional 40 uniforms available. Game tickets and programs will also be of retro 1960's style that day and the entire 1962 team and staff will be honored at halftime. This will be a special day for Husker fans who have shown support over the past 47 years spanning 5 coaches, 5 national titles while posting a 258-39 record at home. In case you were wondering, Notre Dame is second on the all-time sellout list with 205.
